Dear Friend in Christ:
The members of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Phoenixville greet you and invite you to read our profile in the same spirit in which we have written it: with prayerfulness, hopefulness and discerning hearts.
We are searching for a full-time rector who will thrive in our growing community of souls who love elegant liturgy and beautiful music, who serve people in our neighborhood and far beyond, who encompass parishioners of many ages, races, points of view and financial status, who are with and without homes or families, in various states of personal and spiritual development, but all with an abiding love of Jesus Christ, alive and at work in the world.
Be assured of our prayers for you and your discernment process as you encounter us in this profile of our beloved parish, and as you ask yourself if we are the flock that will inspire the full range of your pastoral gifts. Thank you for your visit to us, and please know how sincerely we trust our benevolent God to lead us all to new and more abundant life, even in the midst of change.
In faith, hope, and charity,
St. Peter’s Discernment Committee
on behalf of the Vestry and our
brothers and sisters in the parish.
People interested in more information regarding how to apply for the position of Rector are invited to contact the Discernment Committee at the following email: StPetersPvilleCall@gmail.com
On All Souls Day, November 1st, we joyfully announce the calling of The Reverend Samuel Kirabi Ndung’u to be the 19th Rector at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Phoenixville. Our congregation is so happy to welcome Rev. Sam and his wife, Sylvia!
Rev. Sam has has been serving as Assistant Rector at the African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas for four years. He is excited to work with the members of St. Peter’s to promote our missions.
In Father Sam’s words, I strive not to be a “by-stander” as I minister to others. I feel a strong inclination toward pastoral care. It is at the heart of my ministry. I bring my deep faith in God, in God’s love and God’s presence with us, and I journey with people in their pain.
Father Sam begins his ministry with us on the 1st Sunday in Advent, December 1, 2019.
Please join us at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church to welcome our new Rector!
The Committee has progressed to the stage of interviewing and hosting its final candidates. We expect to have our new Rector start in time for the season of Advent. Until then, we are blessed to have Father William Rex as our interim priest. Please continue your prayers for our next Rector. The Committee will continue to keep you informed of progress. Direct any questions during the interim period to Judi Hans, Senior Warden at JudithHans@comcast.net.
The Committee continues to make progress in the calling of a new rector, and we believe the process will be completed early this fall. There are wonderful candidates and we are excited about discerning where our mutual call will take us. Please continue your prayers for our next Rector. The Committee will continue to keep you informed of progress as much as possible.
Going forward, we will have a supply priest with us for two weeks until Father William Rex joins us as our interim priest on September 28. Direct any questions concerning the interim period to Judi Hans, Senior Warden at JudithHans@comcast.net. Please continue to keep the Discernment Committee in your prayers for their wisdom in making our new rector known to us.
The Committee is moving into the next stage of the calling process and will be making field visits to several candidates at their home churches. These visits should be completed by the end of August. We have some wonderful candidates and are looking forward to discerning where our mutual call will take us. Thank you for your continued prayers for the call to our new rector.
Thank you for your interest. Because our work of discernment is well underway, we are no longer receiving new applications. God bless you in your ministry.
The discernment process for St. Peter’s has begun the evaluation phase. There was much interest in our church, and we received a number of quality application packages. We are just beginning the process of reviewing the candidates, and expect this to continue for a number of weeks.
St. Peter’s is now receiving application packages from candidates interested in being our next Rector. The Discernment Committee is preparing to review and evaluate these candidates after the application period closes on May 1. Review and evaluation will be followed by reference checks and telephone interviews, leading up to select personal interviews that will include participation by the vestry.
