Environmental Ministry at Saint Peter’s Church

Job 12:7-10  “But ask the animals, and they will teach you; the birds of the air, and they will tell you; ask the plants of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you.  Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this?  In [the Lord’s] hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of every human being.”

Caring for God’s creation is a life-giving ministry for many members of the Saint Peter’s congregation. In the last several years we have had many special opportunities to develop our environmental stewardship through the program that aims to:

  • Deepen our personal relationship and understanding of our environment through special programs including Earth Day activities, family summer camping trips, Saint Francis family services and through the offering of a menu of children’s programming given each Sunday during the summer environmental kids program
  • Encourage a sustainable church home through recycling efforts, the use of earth-friendly cleaning products, garden composting, and efforts that have lead to the reduction in the Church’s carbon footprint.
  • Provide opportunities for community action and support through the provision of environmental action workshops, composting classes, Ember Day clean up walks, and food resources harvested and donated from our community raised bed gardens.
