PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Understanding how to resolve conflicts and defuse potentially violent situations are essential skills in the service work we do. During this session we will learn to identify potential problems and concerns and be offered practical strategies for reducing tension and defusing potential conflicts.
PRESENTER:
William Jacobsen, Adjunct Professor of International Peace and Conflict Resolution at Arcadia University. Earned a Ph. D. from Princeton Theological Seminary.
PRESENTER’S RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:
Professor Jacobsen is a recognized expert in conflict resolution and
- Conducts Alternatives to Violence and trauma workshops at Graterford/Phoenix prison and in the community
- Is a Senior Facilitator with the Compassionate Listening Project
- Has worked internationally with people traumatized by genocide in Rwanda and Burundi
