On a hot Saturday June 10, 2023, 6 members of the Property, Environmental and Gardening Committees gathered to begin construction of the new organic gardens on the southeast lawn of the church grounds.
Led by Dave Brennfleck, who purchased and delivered lumber to the building site, and Shawhan Fox, who cleverly organized wall construction on the flat high ground above the target site, the team built three new wooden garden beds about 2 feet high, tiered on the sloping lawn.
Clem Young recommended they be two feet apart, for easy passage between, but with a compact overall footprint to facilitate watering and maintenance.
Due to busy summer schedules, the garden beds will not be filled with earth until after Labor Day, so we will miss the current summer growing season but will be ready for the winter.
Thanks to Dave, Shawhan, Clem, Gary Russell, Robert Gauthier, and Leo Guen for preparing the new organic garden beds.
