St. John’s Lutheran Church, 355 St. John’s Circle, Phoenixville, presents the twenty-ninth annual St. John’s Choir & Friends concert, 7:00 P.M, Sunday, May 5. Entitled “Psalms and Spirituals” this year’s program features Psalm settings by John Ness Beck, Randall Thompson, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and César Franck and Spirituals including Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, There is a Balm in Gilead, Give Me Jesus, This Little Light of Mine, Ain’t Got Time to Die, and Take Me to the Water. Over 50 singers from 24 area churches perform in the chorus. Accompaniment is provided by John A. Quinn, III – organist at St. John’s joined by guest accompanist Derek Maninfior, Director of Music at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Phoenixville and flutist Andrea Engler, a music educator at Woodland Elementary School in the Methacton School District. The concert is directed by F. Thomas Snyder, III – Director of Music at St. John’s.
