As we sit down tomorrow to say grace for our thanksgiving dinner, I would like all of us to include also the thanksgiving meals your church and its pantry shared with 150 or so families in our neighborhood who otherwise would not have that meal. Our compassionate sharing with our neighbors acknowledging our dependence on God’s grace and inclusive love for the ‘other’ may serve as an antidote to all the deep and troubling nativism and the suspicion and hatred of all those who are different from the dominant group that are present in this post-election environment. Let us heed to the prophetic call to ‘seek justice, love kindness and walk humbly before God,’ and work for the reign of God. Have a blessed Thanksgiving!
