Hello fellow St. Peter’s parishioners, Diversity In Action ~ Phoenixville is currently sponsoring collaborative “We Are” Vigils in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. As you will see in the attached flyer St. Peter’s has been invited to host a live in-person vigil in downtown Phoenixville on Thursday August 20, from 7:00 to 7:30 PM.
The intent of these monthly vigils is to sustain a peaceful public presence in solidarity with Black Lives Matter. Reverend Nathan Coleman of Bethel Baptist Church opened and closed the first in-person gathering last month with a few words and prayer. I personally attended and found great acceptance and support from passersby and we enjoyed a happy peaceful 30 minutes. No bullhorns, no long speeches, just quietly holding signs in support of BLM.
Fr. Sam will be leading this week’s vigil and I encourage you to come out and proclaim our baptismal covenant to “strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being”. I hope to see you there, corner of Main St. and Bridge St. Phoenixville, 7:00 PM.
